The Express Train: Express Entry Program
The Express Entry System is likely the quickest path to permanent residence in Canada. This system was created specifically to bring skilled workers into Canada.
If you have a degree and some work experience, this is your entry point into the continent of North America.
In order to be eligible for all of the biweekly draws that will take place over the following 12 months, you only need to create a profile once for this program. Typically, skilled workers must wait six months before being hired. This does not make it impossible for someone to choose you in the first draw. If you wait a year between draws, you have to create a new profile. You can apply to any one of the three Express Entry programs depending on your age, education level, employment history, and language ability.
The Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) is the primary program for skilled workers.
There is a program known as the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) for qualified immigrants who have experience working in trade occupations. The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) program was created for individuals who had previously held a temporary visa and worked in Canada.
